Engineering used for criminal purposes
Building Bad examines the machines, structures and systems developed to support crime. The six-part documentary moves between smuggling, theft, counterfeiting and clandestine communications, showing how technical ingenuity can be used to evade detection. Amelia Ballinger is credited as director, and the programme is produced by Shark Teeth Films.
Narco Subs & Stolen Cars connects the capture of a cocaine-carrying semi-submersible with a major Canadian vehicle-theft investigation. Smuggling Tunnels & Mafia Murders moves underground and into hidden compartments. The different cases show criminals responding to the same practical pressures as any engineering problem: moving goods, concealing activity and avoiding a system designed to stop them.
