Historic castles as active restoration projects
Great British Castle Rescue follows Rick Edwards into significant castles undergoing repair. The series combines the practical effort of saving old buildings with stories of the people who occupied and transformed them. Its focus is heritage under active care, where surviving architecture and present-day decisions about preservation are closely connected.
At Fyvie Castle in Scotland, Edwards meets Annie Robertson and explores the work involved in preventing further deterioration. Gwrych Castle in Wales introduces Mark Baker, whose commitment to the site began in childhood and developed into a trust dedicated to saving it. The people caring for the buildings become central characters alongside their historic occupants.
