9/11: Reunited returns to September 11 through survivors who shared life-or-death moments with strangers and now want to meet them again. Made with the 9/11 Memorial & Museum for the 25th anniversary, the three-part series places human relationships alongside the chronology of the attacks. Its present-day reunions connect an extraordinary shared experience with the years that followed.

The opening episode includes men trapped in a North Tower elevator reconnecting with a window cleaner whose arrival helped them survive. Another story follows a woman injured by debris meeting the stranger who stopped to save her. The encounters give individual acts of help a continuing place in the survivors’ lives.

Stories across the towers and the Pentagon

The second chapter includes a Pentagon survivor who jumped from a window and the Navy SEAL who caught her, alongside a firefighter meeting the paramedic who helped after the South Tower collapse. The series follows the timing of the day while moving between distinct experiences of rescue.

The final part includes firefighter Bill meeting the family of NYPD officer John, with whom he had worked before the North Tower fell. It also follows Port Authority officer John McLoughlin’s reunion with rescuers. Some meetings allow survivors to express thanks; others allow families to hear memories of a loved one’s final moments.

A history held in memory and reunion

Julian Jones is credited as director, with producers including Dan Lindsay, TJ Martin, David Glover and Mark Raphael. The documentary’s distinctive material is the connection between recollection and a new meeting. The story of the day remains central, but the passage of 25 years gives the reunions another emotional and historical dimension.

Three men who were trapped in an elevator in the north tower on 9/11 reunite to thank one of the building's window cleaners, whose last-minute entry into the elevator helped them all survive. A woman, who was badly injured by debris, reconnects with the stranger who stopped to save her life for the first time since 9/11.

9:07 Am - 10:15 Am

As first responders rushed to the World Trade Center on September 11, a hijacked plane hit the Pentagon. An Army corporal, who jumped from a window before she succumbed to smoke inhalation, reunites with the Navy SEAL who caught her. A firefighter who was severely injured in the collapse of the south tower meets the paramedic who saved his life.

S01 · E03

10:15 Am September 11 - 7:45 September 12

After the collapse of the south tower, a firefighter worked with a police officer who later lost his life. The firefighter meets the officer's family to tell them he was thinking of them in his final moments. After the north tower collapsed, a Port Authority cop was trapped and seriously injured. He survived and is reunited with his rescuers.
