Pompeii before the city became a ruin
Pompeii: Out of Time with Tom Hiddleston revisits the hours before and during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. The three-part series joins investigative documentary with scripted historical sequences, placing Hiddleston inside a reconstructed Roman world. Archaeologists, historians, geologists and disaster specialists guide the investigation of what people faced as the crisis developed.
The production follows a teenage apprentice, a powerful businesswoman and a Praetorian Guard. Their stories give the eruption a human scale, connecting physical evidence with the choices and movements of people caught in its path. The central investigation concerns who could escape, who died and what shaped those outcomes.
