A contested case becomes a story about true crime itself
A Killer Story examines the 2002 deaths of Mike Sisco and Karen Harkness and the long-running case against Sisco's former wife, Dana Chandler. Directed by Matthew Galkin, the Story Syndicate production follows a case that drew attention for more than two decades. Its story includes both the prosecution and the people who came to question the conviction.
Kansas residents Eileen and Keen Umbehr become citizen investigators, working with New York journalist Joe Sexton in an effort to establish Chandler's innocence. The series therefore follows an investigation into an investigation: the original case, the challenges raised against it and the influence of people outside the criminal-justice system.
