A welfare placement and a route into organised crime
Brennpunkt: Foxtrot på gutterommet investigates the recruitment of Norwegian young people into the Swedish criminal network Foxtrot. Its starting point is a boy placed in a child-welfare institution at thirteen to help him leave crime behind. Instead, the documentary follows how he became involved in recruiting other young people for violent assignments.
NRK meets him at seventeen and includes his own account of recruiting through three mobile phones while in the institution. The reporting examines how adult organisers can reach vulnerable children through social platforms. Brennpunkt also used a concealed identity during the investigation, and NRK collaborated with the fact-checking organisation Faktisk.no.
