The place that shapes an animal’s life
Africa: Earth's Wild Home explores the continent through the relationship between animals and the places they inhabit. Its landscapes range from dense jungles to deserts and broad savannahs. The recurring idea is that a habitat helps shape the lives of those within it, giving the series a unifying thread across very different environments.
The series also follows the people watching over these environments. Wildlife, landscape and human stewardship form parts of the same story, broadening the view beyond individual animal portraits. Wunmi Mosaku narrates the programme.
Jungles, islands, deserts and plains
After Welcome to Africa, the episode lineup moves through Jungle, Islands, Desert, Plains and Extremes. The island chapter highlights unusual animals, while the desert story considers the difficulty of surviving in an exceptionally demanding environment. These divisions make it easy to approach the series through a particular landscape of interest.
The plains chapter focuses on large gatherings of wildlife facing constant change. Extremes turns to animals finding opportunities in dangerous conditions. Across these settings, the shared question is how an animal makes a life within the particular pressures and possibilities of its home.
