Keeping a busy city centre safe
Geordie Coppers follows the people dealing with crime and disorder in Newcastle. The Candour production brings together Northumbria Police, NE1 and Newcastle City Council, showing a city-centre partnership rather than a police team working alone. Its observational stories move between urgent incidents, routine enquiries and the unpredictable encounters of a shift on the streets.
The opening episode follows PC Siobhan as she investigates repeated robberies, with a house search and an unexpectedly warm Big Mac becoming part of the enquiry. Street ranger Callum, who hopes to become a police officer, finds himself first at the scene of a brawl. The two stories establish the overlap between investigation and immediate response.
