A community preparing for society to collapse

Kollaps - Profeten i Bærum follows a group on a farm in Bærum, Norway, led by former multimillionaire Christian Sønstebø. He describes his plans through a divine calling and a belief that society will collapse. The TV 2 documentary examines the community that forms around those convictions and the tensions that emerge within it.

Directed by Finn-Erik Rognan, the four-part series begins with the image of a modern Noah's ark: a closed group preparing itself for catastrophe beyond the farm. Subsequent episodes introduce disagreements about the leader's choices and the departure of one committed resident. The shared project becomes a story about authority and the ability to question it.

Belief, boundaries and plans to move abroad

The chapter sequence includes the use of psychedelics, proposals involving pornography and education, and a trip to Costa Rica connected with plans for a new farm. These subjects are part of the documentary's portrayal of the group's increasingly contested direction, rather than recommendations or claims that its beliefs are true.

By the final episode, arguments and fear accompany the prospect of relocation, while criticism of the leader becomes harder to contain. The series traces the distance between an alternative community's promise of safety and the conflicts that develop when one person's visions organise the lives of others.
